Austria: Logos as art

The Austrian business news website Medianet.at reports of an interesting art event that can currently be seen on billboards all over Vienna. Artist Martin Strauss uses details and cut-outs of well-known logos - such as Siemens, Lidl or Merkur - and puts them in Barock pictures frames. The results are quite unusual and, according to Medianet, remind of artists like Kandinsky, Mondrian or Malewitsch.
The above image is taken from Gewista's website, the sponsor of this event, where more examples of Strauss' concept art can be found.

The site mentioned in the above comment (also cited a while ago on the pMdM) is an excellent illustration of the "imperfect picture" principle expressed at point 26 of the ECJ decision of 22 June 1999 in Lloyd Schuhfabrik Meyer & Co. GmbH VS Klijsen Handel BV (C-342/97):

"26 For the purposes of [global appreciation of likelihood of confusion between trade marks] account should be taken of the fact that the average consumer only rarely has the chance to make a direct comparison between the different marks but must place his trust in the imperfect picture of them that he has kept in his mind.
