Spain –When it comes to IP information, Spanish SMEs will have it easier.

The Spanish Patents and Trade Marks Office (SPTO) gives nformation on its website of a new initiative called “IP management Support Centre” (in Spanish: “Centro de Apoyo a la Pyme sobre Gestión de Derechos de Propiedad Industrial - CEVIPYME”). This is a joint initiative of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, the SPTO and the business school EOI which is expected to foster IP awareness amongst the Spanish SMEs.

This new centre aims to provide SMEs with information and assistance in connection with IP protection and enforcement. It will also provide counselling on how to manage and maximize the economic return of the SMEs’ IP rights.

The centre will employ “specialized personnel” to provide “personalised assistance” to SMEs on issues like internationalisation of IP rights, transfer and licensing policies, trade-related aspects of IP rights and available public subsidies.
